Amazon: Actress lawsuit over age revelation bogus

SEATTLE (AP) — Amazon.com and its Internet Movie Database say a million-dollar lawsuit filed by an actress who wants to conceal her advanced age is selfish and frivolous.

The companies filed motions to dismiss the complaint in federal court in Seattle last week. They argued that the 40-year-old is trying to force them to perpetrate a fraud by concealing her age.

The actress filed the complaint last month, identifying herself only as Jane Doe, a Texas resident of Asian descent. She claimed that after she signed up for a service called IMDb Pro, her birthdate appeared in the database — and her offers for roles dried up.

The companies say she is violating court rules by not identifying herself, and that when subscribers sign up for IMDb Pro, they allow the website to make use of their personal information.
