SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Cody Doolin scored a go-ahead layup with 16.9 seconds remaining and San Francisco survived a buzzer-beating tap-in attempt to beat Louisiana-Lafayette 71-70 Sunday in the final game of the Hilltop Challenge.

Angelo Caloiaro scored 18 points and added 10 rebounds as the Dons (2-1) held on to win a game that featured 12 lead changes in the final 15:45.

Doolin, who finished with 15 points, scored the game-winner after four consecutive free throws by Elfrid Payton had given Louisiana-Lafayette a 70-69 lead with 42 seconds remaining.

The Ragin Cajuns’ last possession — a baseline inbounds pass with 0.1 seconds left — ended when Kadeem Coleby’s tip rolled along the back of the rim and fell out of the cylinder.

J.J. Thomas led Louisiana-Lafayette (1-2) with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Payton had 14 points and six assists.
