Geiger, Idaho turn away Concordia, Ore., 77-61

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Deremy Geiger scored 19 points and hit five 3-pointers as Idaho beat Concordia, Ore., 77-61 on Monday night.

Stephen Madison added 15 points and Kyle Barone had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Vandals (1-1). Landon Tatum scored 10 points.

Idaho dominated the boards, outrebounding the Cavaliers 44-31. Concordia was limited to seven rebounds in the second half.

Concordia was led by Kevan West, who scored 29 points on 11-for-18 shooting. Adam Herman added 16 points and seven rebounds.

The NAIA Cavaliers kept it close in the first half, trailing 30-26 with 6 minutes left. But Idaho closed with a 16-5 run to end the half leading 46-31. That charge was led by Geiger, who hit three 3-pointers in the final 5 minutes and collected 14 points in the half.

Concordia (2-0) considered the game an exhibition.
