Man killed by Colville police was from California

COLVILLE, Wash. (AP) — The Stevens County coroner has identified the man killed by Colville police as 21-year-old Sean J. Bergstrasser, a transient from California.

Information on the Internet indicates he may have grown up in Wasco, Calif.

Police told The Spokesman-Review (http://bit.ly/sIoYqv ) the shooting took place late Saturday night as an officer responded to a report of a car prowl. Police are not releasing details of the shooting but say a gun was found at the scene.

The Spokane Investigative Regional Response team is investigating.
