STEVENSON, Wash. (AP) — Weather permitting, aircraft will be used in Tuesday’s search for an elk hunter missing near Mount St. Helens.

The Skamania County sheriff’s office says snow and low clouds hampered the search Monday for 56-year-old David Sherwood of Onalaska.

He was reported overdue Friday evening when he did not return from hunting in the Ryan Lake area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. His vehicle was found Saturday on a Forest Service road.

More than 80 searchers, including friends and family members, have been searching.

The search area is steep and heavily timbered with 8-to-20 inches of snow on the ground.
