PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Juan Fernandez scored 19 points and Ramone Moore 15 as Temple pulled away in overtime for a 73-67 victory over Pennsylvania on Monday night.

Moore’s 3-point jumper put the Owls (1-0) ahead to stay, 66-64, with 1:18 left in the extra period, and Fernandez followed with another 3-pointer for a five-point lead with 17 seconds to play.

Zack Rosen, who scored 27 points to lead the Quakers (1-1), hit a 3-pointer to bring them within two, 69-67 with 7 seconds left, but Fernandez and T.J. DiLeo made two free throws each to pad the final margin.

Rosen made 7 of 10 from 3-point range, including one that gave Penn a 57-56 lead with 1:20 left in regulation. Moore tied it by making 1 of 2 free throws.

The game at the Palestra marked the earliest meeting in any season between schools making up the Philadelphia Big 5
