SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — George Beamon had 18 points and Emmy Andujar made two clutch free throws with 2:13 remaining to give Manhattan a one-point lead, and the Jaspers held on to beat Brown 54-52 in a consolation game at the NIT Season Tip-Off on Tuesday night.

The Jaspers (2-1) led 30-27 at halftime in the Carrier Dome and by as many as seven in the second half before Sean McGonagill’s 3 tied it at 38-all midway through the period.

Beamon’s 3 from the left corner put the Jaspers up 41-40, but the Bears (1-2) got consecutive back-door layups by Dockery Walker and Stephen Albrecht to take a 50-49 lead with 4:37 left.

After Walker again sneaked inside for a layup to give Brown a 52-51 lead, Andujar hit his free throws and the Jaspers escaped when Tyler Ponticelli missed a 3 from the right wing with 3.8 seconds left.

Walker had 12 points to lead four Brown players in double figures.
