Cal State Bakersfield beats Cal Poly SLO 60-58

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) — Tyrone White’s 3-pointer with 10.3 seconds remaining lifted Cal State Bakersfield to a 60-58 victory against Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo on Wednesday night.

White’s shot from the left corner culminated a comeback by the Roadrunners (1-1), who scored the game’s last eight points. Issiah Grayson and Stephon Carter scored 12 points each for Cal State Bakersfield.

Will Taylor had 16 points and Amaurys Fermin added 14 for the Mustangs (1-1).

Cal Poly had an opportunity to tie, but Fermin missed a driving layup with a second left.

White had nine points.

Will Donahue’s layup with 3:57 remaining gave the Mustangs a 58-52 cushion. The Roadrunners then got a layup by Carter, and a 3-pointer by White with 2:56 to play set the stage for his final-seconds heroics.
