HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Brendan Bald scored a career-high 21 points and Pat Bergmann notched his first career double-double as Vermont defeated Dartmouth 65-53 Wednesday night.

Bergmann scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Catamounts (1-1), who also got 10 points from Ben Crenca.

In the first half, turnovers hindered the Catamounts, as Dartmouth took a 29-22 lead into the break. The Big Green (0-2) turned 13 Vermont turnovers into 15 points in the opening 20 minutes of play.

After scoring only 22 in the first half, the Catamounts topped that in the first 8:17 of the second after a Bald jumper put Vermont up 45-37. A pair of free throws from Luke Apfeld with 9:38 left put Vermont up 12, and Bald put the game away by connecting on three straight 3-pointers in a span of 1:09.

Dartmouth had only one player in double figures, as Matt LaBove scored 10 points.
