PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Three officials have resigned from Oregon Lottery: marketing director Carole Hardy, public affairs manager Mary Loftin and retail operations manager Tim Eaton.

The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/rT3mmq ) Lottery Director Larry Niswender gave little explanation Wednesday for the sudden departures Tuesday. He said in a memo to Lottery employees there was a need to make some strategic changes.

The Lottery had been working to launch a website that would have allowed players to register losing scratch tickets for a second-chance jackpot. The website also would have offered free games and social networking.

Work on the project stopped last month after Gov. John Kitzhaber said he was concerned it would attract under-age users.
