PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — The Kitsap County Sheriff’s office says four men have been arrested in connection to the theft and desecration of more than a dozen graves.

The sheriff’s office says two men from Poulsbo removed the brass name plaques from grave sites, many that were from military veterans. The other two men purchased and tried to sell the plaques as scrap metal.

Investigators found that 10 of the 12 plaques had been grinded and cut, making them a total loss worth about $15,000. The plaques are unrepairable.
