Florida Gulf Coast beats Prairie View 68-59

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Brett Comer recorded a double-double to help Florida Gulf Coast pull away from Prairie View 68-59 on Thursday night.

Prairie View (2-1) tied the game 52-52 before Comer’s layup and free throw gave Florida Gulf Coast a 55-52 lead with 5:37 to play. Comer controlled the game from there, recording two assists, three rebounds and seven points during the final five minutes of regulation. His two free throws gave the Eagles a 64-54 lead with 47 seconds to play.

Comer finished with 15 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Bernard Thompson scored 13 points and Filip Cvjetcanin added 10 points, shooting 100 percent (three field goals, two 3-pointers and two free throws).

Prairie View recorded 11 steals and forced 16 turnovers, but the Jaguars sent Florida Gulf Coast (2-1) to the free throw line 27 times.

Jourdan Demuynck led Prairie View with 15 points and six rebounds.
