Fairleigh Dickinson defeats Saint Peter’s 73-62

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — George Goode scored 16 points and Lonnie Hayes had nine of his 11 in the second half as Fairleigh Dickinson earned its first victory of the season, 73-62 over Saint Peter’s on Friday night.

Kinu Rochford added 15 points and Melquan Bolding 14 for the Knights (1-2), who shot 56.5 percent (26 of 46), including 61.5 percent (16 of 26) in the second half.

The Peacocks (0-3) shot 34.3 percent (23 of 67) overall, led by 15 points from Jack Hill and 14 from Chris Prescott.

Fairleigh Dickinson led 28-23 at halftime and increased its lead to 12 by scoring the first seven points of the second half — five of them by Lonnie Robinson.

The Knights also had a big edge in free throws, making 19 of 28, including 12 of 19 in the second half, to 8 of 16 in the game for Saint Peter’s.
