Letter: At least Penn State has taken action

The Columbian
Published: November 17, 2011, 4:00pm

We know what Penn State officials did to punish the president and head coach for not stopping child molestation. What have Vatican officials done to punish Boston’s archbishop and assistant bishops who allowed far worse child molestation to continue 10 years ago? For a list of their offenses, see the Boston Globe reports at http://www.boston.com/globe/spotlight/abuse/extras/coverups_archive.htm.

If Penn State had followed the Vatican’s example, Joe Paterno would have been promoted, not fired. The difference in officials’ responses is not just shocking, it verges on being criminal.
