YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Youngstown State scored the last seven points in overtime, clinching the win from the free-throw line after UC Riverside coach Jim Wooldridge was called for two technical fouls and ejected with 1.4 seconds left in a 53-49 win Friday night.

The Penguins (3-0), off to their best start since 2000-01, saw the Highlanders (1-2) overcome a six-point deficit in the final 8:09 of regulation.

UC Riverside led 49-46 at the 1:52 mark, then Damian Eargle and Kendrick Perry sank two free throws apiece for a 50-49 Youngstown State lead with 26 seconds left.

Phil Martin, who scored 16 points, missed a field goal with 3 seconds left and DuShawn Brooks was fouled on the rebound with 1.4 seconds to go.

Wooldridge argued Martin’s miss, and the Penguins were awarded six free throws, with Perry hitting 1 of 4 and Brooks 2 of 2.

Youngstown State’s Ashen Ward scored 15 points.
