Brown’s 17 points lead Toledo by SC-Upstate 75-70

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Julius Brown scored 17 points, Rian Pearson added 16 and 12 rebounds, and Toledo ralled in the second half Saturday to beat South Carolina Upstate 75-70 in a Texas-Pan American Tournament game.

Dominique Buckley scored 14 points, including a 3-pointer with 53.6 seconds remaining that gave Toledo a 70-66 lead. Matt Smith had 11 for the Rockets (1-1), who grabbed their first lead of the second half on a Ryan Majerle 3-pointer with 3:03 remaining and held it to the end.

Ty Greene led all scorers with 20 points for the Spartans (2-2), and Torrey Craig added 12. Fred Miller scored 10 but missed a game-tying 3-point attempt with 27 seconds left.

South Carolina Upstate led 38-29 at halftime and stretched that lead to as much as 12 in the second half. But Toledo outscored the Spartans 41-24 from then on.
