LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Lindsey Moore scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half to help Nebraska protect a 13-point halftime lead and hold off No. 23 Southern California for a 68-50 victory Friday night.

Jessica Hooper scored 16 points in the first half for the Huskers (2-0) and finished with 22.

Briana Gilbreath had 18 points for USC (1-1).

Nebraska never trailed, but let USC get within seven points on Gilbreath’s layup with 18:15 remaining. Moore’s three-point play put the Cornhuskers back up 38-28.

USC closed to 44-38 on Ashley Corral’s 3-pointer with 10:50 to go, but Moore hit a jumper and a 3-pointer on Nebraska’s next two possessions to put the Huskers up by 11.

Nebraska took a 9-0 lead with Hooper scoring seven, while USC missed its first eight shots. Southern Cal hit just 20 percent of its shots in trailing 35-22 at the break.
