North Carolina A&T defeats Chicago State 87-70

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Nic Simpson scored 14 points to lead five North Carolina A&T players in double figures as the Aggies picked up their first victory of the season by defeating Chicago State 87-70 Saturday night.

Jean Louisme added 13 points, Adrian Powell 12, Lawrence Smith 11 and Marc Hill 10 for the Aggies (1-3), who made 44.1 percent (26 of 59) of their shots to 33.3 percent (22 of 66) for the Cougars (0-3).

North Carolina A&T, which had a 53-36 rebounding advantage, paced by Smith’s 12, led 37-20 at halftime.

The Aggies also had a big edge in free throws. They made 82.4 percent (28 of 34) to Chicago State’s 53.3 percent (16 of 30).

Aaron Williams scored 21 points to lead Chicago State. He was 4 of 9 from 3-point range and the Cougars 10 of 21 overall behind the arc as they tried to get back into the game.
