RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Darien Brothers scored 19 points, dished out three assists and tallied three steals in Richmond’s 83-58 rout of Sacred Heart on Saturday.

Brothers led four Spiders in double figures as Kendall Anthony had 18 points, going 4 of 9 on 3-pointers. Derrick Williams chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds and Josh Duinker added 11 points for Richmond (3-1) in the Cancun Challenge.

The Spiders shot 45.8 percent (27 of 59), while holding the Pioneers to just 37.5 percent from the field (21 of 56).

Much of Sacred Heart’s shooting woes came from behind the arc, where it was 2 of 13 (15.4 percent).

Sacred Heart (2-2) was led by Shane Gibson’s 26 points on 10-of-21 shooting.

Richmond just edged the Pioneers on the boards, 37-35, but the Spiders were better at finding the open man, dishing out 18 assists. Sacred Heart finished with 10 assists.
