Santa Clara defeats San Jose State 84-58

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — John McArthur scored 19 points and Nyai Harrison had 18 in leading Santa Clara over San Jose State 84-58 on Saturday night.

Kevin Foster added 15 points and Evan Roquemore 11 for the Broncos (2-1), who beat the Spartans for the eighth time in the last 10 meetings.

Keith Shamburger scored 15 points to lead the Spartans (1-3). James Kinney added 12 points and Wil Carter recorded a game-high 13 rebounds.

McArthur was 4 of 8 from the field and made all 11 of his free throws for Santa Clara, which held a 39-28 lead at halftime.
