ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police in Ashland are investigating the death of a 23-year-old local man as a homicide.

The body of David Michael Grubbs was found early Saturday night on a bike path near Hunter Park behind Walker Elementary School. Police say he may have been attacked with a large sharp-edged object.

A passer-by reported finding the body.

Detectives say in a press release they want to identify two males who were in the area when Grubbs’ body was found. Police say the two may have information that could aid the investigation.

Police also hope to speak to acquaintances of Grubbs who were with him Saturday.

Police warned people to be cautious on the bike path and to report suspicious activity. Police say they are adding extra patrols on the path.
