HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — Travis Champion threw three second-half touchdown passes to lead Hampton to a 42-18 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Morgan State on Saturday in the teams’ season finale.

Hudson, who completed 6 of 13 for 59 yards, had a 10-yard scoring pass to Thomas in the first quarter. The Pirates’ other first-half possessions ended in seven punts and one fumble.

After Champion’s first two TD passes, the Bears (5-6, 4-4) pulled within 21-11 on a 2-yard scoring run by Jourdan Brooks with 11:44 remaining. But Hampton responded with a 36-yard scoring run by Dyrri McCain.

Sophomore linebacker DeVonte Hawkins made nine unassisted tackles and assisted on 15 for Hampton.
