Groomedforvictory wins at Aqueduct

NEW YORK (AP) — Groomedforvictory edged Johannesburg Smile by a head on Sunday to capture to the $60,000 Adirondack Holme Stakes for New York breds at Aqueduct.

Making his first start following a $62,500 claim by trainer Rick Dutrow, Groomedforvictory improved to 4-2-0 in seven starts over Aqueduct’s main track. The 6-year-old gelding ran the one mile in 1:35.73 with Ramon Dominguez aboard.

Groomedforvictory, the 8-5 favorite, paid $5.40, $3.30 and $2.30. Johannesburg Smile returned $3.30 and $2.10 while Icabad Crane paid $2.40 to show.
