COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — After all of the distractions of the past two weeks, Penn State summoned up one of its best efforts of the season.
The Nittany Lions’ 20-14 victory over Ohio State was a means to a very large end: Playing Wisconsin on Saturday for a shot at the Big Ten title game.
First, there was the big first-half performance by the offense — scoring more in two quarters than it had in six full games this season. Then the defense took over, shutting out the Buckeyes in the second half to win for only the third time in Columbus since 1978.
Along the way, the Nittany Lions actually had some fun.
Now they’ll play the Badgers for a spot in the inaugural conference championship game on Dec. 3.
