What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

It’s Apple Cup week, which always provides bragging rights for supporters on one side of the divide, and typically provides exciting football for sports fans of all stripes.

Washington lost to Oregon State on Saturday, its third straight defeat and fourth in five games. But we should remember that it wasn’t all that long ago the Huskies went 0-12, and that they are assured of a bowl berth this season.

WSU was eliminated from bowl contention Saturday with an overtime loss to Utah. But we should remember that it wasn’t all that long ago they were giving up 60 points seemingly every week, and that they have four wins this year.

It’s Apple Cup week. Should be exciting.

Congratulations to the Skyview and Camas football teams, and condolences to Union and King’s Way. Southwest Washington had four teams playing in the quarterfinals of the state football playoffs Saturday, which speaks extremely well of the football in this region.

As Skyview and Camas advance to semifinal contests this week in the Tacoma Dome, we’re certain they will bring pride to all fans of high school football in the area.
