Albany (NY) routs Monmouth (NJ) 85-49

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Jayson Guerrier scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half and grabbed 10 rebounds as Albany (N.Y.) defeated Monmouth (N.J.) 85-49 on Monday.

Gerardo Suero had 16 points and Ralph Watts scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half for the Great Danes (2-2). Watts sank his first three 3-point attempts during the game in the consolation round of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Leading 21-17 midway through the opening half, Guerrier scored six points during a 15-3 run and the Great Danes entered halftime up 38-25. The Hawks inched closer, cutting it to eight, 39-31, early in the second half, but Suero’s 3-pointer started an 8-0 run and the Great Danes led comfortably the rest of the way.

Guerrier, who entered with eight points on the season, made five 3-pointers, all six of his second half field goal attempts and 9 of 10 field goals overall.
