COSMOPOLIS, Wash. (AP) — Crews were able to repair a leaking effluent line at a Cosmopolis pulp mill Monday before heavy rains hit.

Cosmopolis Mayor Vickie Raines told KXRO none of the waste entered city storm sewers.

There also was a leak in the effluent line in October with foam gurgling out of the ground.

The Cosmo mill reopened earlier this year under a new owner after being closed four years. It makes a pulp that is combined with other materials to create a variety of products, including plastics and rayon for clothing.
