LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Ty Nurse scored 14 points off the bench, and Texas Tech shot 62 percent from the field in a 66-54 win against Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.

Antonio Bostic led Stephen F. Austin (1-2) with 11 points – the only Lumberjack with more than 10 points.

Texas Tech (3-0) let an 18-point second-half lead dwindle to 10 after Hal Bateman stole the ball from Javarez Willis and scored on a fast-break layup with 2:08 to go.

However, the Lumberjacks’ poor shooting touch meant they could not get any closer, despite three Texas Tech turnovers in the final three minutes.

Stephen F. Austin shot 17-of-48 from the field, including a 4-of-18 mark from beyond the 3-point line.

Jaye Crockett added 13 points for the Red Raiders, and Jordan Tolbert scored 10. The Red Raiders shot 82 percent in the first half, but 12 first-half turnovers limited their halftime lead to 37-23.
