Letter: Maintain existing waterfront trails

Waterfront development may not be the best decision by the city of Vancouver. It seems the city lacks the funds to maintain waterfront areas already developed. The Waterfront Renaissance Trail that now runs from Marine Park east to Wintler Park remains closed after high-water damage earlier this year. When I contacted the public works department, I was told there were no plans in place to repair the walkway, no funds available though the city was in the process of getting bids. Additionally, the water feature on the trail by the Tidewater jetty remains in disrepair for over a year.

How does the city plan to maintain a new trail and park when existing trails and parks are not maintained?
