COQUILLE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a 72-year-old woman attempting a U-turn across a wet highway north of Coquille in southern Oregon was killed when her Geo Tracker collided with a Ford Explorer.

The Wednesday afternoon crash on State Highway 42 also injured five people in the Explorer, including three young children. One child was airlifted to a Portland hospital with serious injuries.

Lt. Gregg Hastings said the Myrtle Point woman who died was not immediately identified by name pending notification of relatives.

Highway 42 was closed in both directions for an hour.
