ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Michael Williams scored 23 points as San Francisco held off Dartmouth for a 71-69 victory in a first-round game at the Great Alaska Shootout on Wednesday night.

Rashad Green added 18 points and Angelo Caloiaro 16 for the Dons (5-1), who play Murray State in Friday’s semifinal.

David Rufful had 19 points and R.J Griffin 17 for the Big Green (1-3), who face Alaska-Anchorage in a consolation semifinal on Friday. Rufful made five 3-pointers.

Avery Johnson went to the line for the Dons and made his second shot to make the score 71-68 with seven seconds remaining. San Francisco fouled to prevent the Big Green from getting off a potential game-tying 3-pointer, and after Jabari Trotter went 1 of 2 from the line, the Dons inbounded the ball and ran off the remaining time.

Dartmouth made 3-pointers — by Mack McKearney, Griffin and Rufful — on three straight possessions to get within 69-68 with 25 seconds left. After a Williams free throw, Griffin missed from behind the arc with nine seconds to play.
