Spain tops FIFA rankings, US stays 34th

ZURICH (AP) — World and European champion Spain remained first in the FIFA rankings, and the United States held its position at No. 34.

The Netherlands remains second in the rankings released Wednesday, but No. 3 Germany narrowed the gap by winning 3-0 in an exhibition between the nations.

South American champion Uruguay remained fourth, and England moved up two spots to fifth following its exhibition win over Spain. Brazil dropped one spot to sixth, followed by Portugal, Croatia, Italy and Argentina.

Mexico rose two places to No. 20.
