No. 13 Rutgers shuts down Georgia Tech

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — April Sykes had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 13 Rutgers to a 59-40 win over Georgia Tech on Friday.

The Scarlet Knights (5-0) held the Yellow Jackets to 21 percent shooting for the game, including just 13 percent in the first half. Rutgers was 52 percent from the field and outrebounded Georgia Tech 44-29.

Tyuanna Marshall scored 12 points for Georgia Tech (4-1) and Sasha Goodlett grabbed seven rebounds.

Rutgers jumped out early and led by double digits since midway through the first half, going into the break up 32-16.

Monique Oliver had 10 points and eight rebounds for Rutgers. Betnijah Laney scored nine, and Erica Wheeler and Khadijah Rushdan each chipped in eight.
