RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — A 47-year-old Oregon man has been killed in eastern Washington after an Amtrak train struck him when he chasing a hunting dog.

The Tri-City Herald reports that (http://bit.ly/sqYscE ) the man was hunting with two other men about 10 miles east of Roosevelt, Wash., on Friday morning when a hunting dog wandered toward the railroad tracks.

The man, from Bend, Ore., chased after the dog and he was hit.

The Benton County sheriff’s office says it’s unclear how the man was not aware of the on-coming train.
