ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Pakistan military has claimed that NATO helicopters fired on a checkpoint in the country’s northwest, causing casualties.

The military says the incident occurred Friday night in the Mohmand tribal area near the Afghan border. It said in a statement Saturday that casualties have been reported but details are still coming.

U.S. helicopters accidentally killed two Pakistani soldiers near the border last year, prompting Pakistan to temporarily close the border to supplies shipped through the country to NATO troops in Afghanistan.
