CINCINNATI (AP) — Damier Pitts scored 19 points and Marshall overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half for a 73-69 overtime victory over Cincinnati on Friday night in the finale of the Global Sports Challenge.

Marshall (5-0) lost a five-point lead at the end of regulation, then led by four twice in overtime. Cincinnati (3-2) trailed 71-69 and was going for the tie when Sean Kilpatrick drove into the lane and turned the ball over to Pitts. Pitts was fouled and made two clinching free throws with 8.4 seconds left.

Marshall, considered to be one of the top contenders to rival Memphis for the Conference USA title, is 5-0 for the first time since starting the 1999-2000 season 10-0.

Dennis Tinnon added 14 points and DeAndre Kane 13 for Marshall. Kilpatrick led Cincinnati with 19 points and Yancey Gates scored 17.
