NEW YORK (AP) — Brian Barbour scored 22 points and Columbia used a second-half surge to beat poor-shooting Manhattan 59-41 on Saturday.
The Lions (1-4) took advantage of Manhattan’s shooting slump in the second half, scoring 14 straight points to take their largest lead of the game at 43-29 on Meiko Lyles’ layup with 9:49 left. The Jaspers (3-3) shot 26 percent (11 of 42) from the floor and made only four field goals in the second half.
Columbia also struggled with its shooting, making 34.4 percent (21 of 61) of its shots. But the Lions were able to capitalize on Manhattan’s 21 turnovers, scoring 26 points on the Jaspers’ miscues.
Alex Rosenberg scored 11 points and John Daniels grabbed 11 rebounds — five offensive — for the Lions.
The only person to score in double figures for Manhattan was Roberto Colonette, who finished with 10 points.
