SC State edges Kennesaw State 104-98 in 2 OTs

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Saquil Barber scored nine of his 15 points in the second overtime to lift South Carolina State past Kennesaw State 104-98 Saturday.

Seven of his points came on an 11-4 run in the final 1:41. The Bulldogs (4-2) trailed 94-93 before Barber’s three-point play sparked the spurt.

Omar Sanders led the Bulldogs with 28 points and 13 rebounds, and Brandon Riley chipped in 25 points.

The Owls, who shot 53.6 percent (37 of 69), were better from the field than South Carolina State, which shot 50.6 percent (42 of 38). However, Kennesaw State turned it over 20 times, leading to 31 points by the Bulldogs.

South Carolina State outscored the Owls 50-40 in the paint, and stopped Kennesaw State from winning three straight games for the first time since joining Division I in 2005-06.

Spencer Dix had 26 points, Delbert Love 22 and Markeith Cummings 20 for the Owls (2-3).
