Florence city manager to take reigns in Silverton

SILVERTON, Ore. (AP) — The city manager of Florence has been appointed to lead the City of Silverton.

The Silverton City Council voted last week to appoint 64-year-old Bob Willoughby as the city’s top administrator beginning Jan. 1. The Statesman Journal of Salem reports (http://stjr.nl/uKgGYZ ) Willoughby has an extensive resume as a lawyer, business owner, city councilor, youth sports coach, senior manager and executive director.

Willoughby has led Florence since 2006 and was previously a manager in Lafayette and Cascade Locks.

Silverton is located about 15 miles east of Salem and has 9,200 residents.
