Hampton scores 32 points in No. 23 DePaul’s win

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Keisha Hampton scored a career-high 32 points, Andrea Martin added 21 points and No. 23 DePaul handed Northwestern its first loss of the season Sunday, 88-72 in the Third Annual Autism Awareness game.

With the game tied at 62, DePaul (5-1) went on an 8-2 run as Hampton capped the surge with a 3-pointer. Northwestern (4-1) pulled to 74-70 with 3:34 remaining, but the Blue Demons Jasmine Penny scored five and Hampton had four as DePaul expanded its lead to 83-70.

Both teams got off to a slow start. DePaul made only two of its first nine shots, while Northwestern committed four turnovers. DePaul turned things around, though, finishing 7 of 13 for 3-pointers in the first half. The Blue Demons led 41-37 lead at the intermission.

Brittany Hrynko had 14 points for DePaul with four 3-pointers. Danielle Diamant led Northwestern with 19 points. Morgan Jones had 17 points and Brittany Orban added 16 for the Wildcats.
