SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A 27-year-old suspect is jailed in Spokane in the fatal shooting early Sunday of a 21-year-old man at a downtown hotel.

The owner of the Quality Inn told KREM a large group of people were staying Saturday night for a concert.

Officers responded to a report of a fight with gunfire about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, and they found the victim fatally wounded in an elevator surrounded by friends. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Police say the suspect fled in a car and tried to run when it was stopped. Officers found him in the area a short time later and booked him into jail for investigation of murder.
