SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — The NCAA is monitoring developments in the investigation of child molestation allegations against former Syracuse assistant coach Bernie Fine.

In a statement Monday, college sports’ governing body says NCAA President Mark Emmert spoke with Chancellor Nancy Cantor, telling her the accusations are “deeply troubling” and that the NCAA will determine what actions might be necessary as the facts emerge.

The statement adds: “Furthermore, to have similar allegations involving coaches at two of the nation’s major universities saddens every member of the Association.”
