LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California forward Dewayne Dedmon has been diagnosed with a stress injury in his right foot and could miss four to six weeks.
The school said Tuesday that an MRI taken on Monday revealed the stress injury to the fifth metatarsal in his foot. Dedmon is in a walking boot and using crutches.
The 7-foot sophomore first noticed mild discomfort last week, but wasn’t bothered by pain until after USC’s game against South Carolina in the Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday. He had 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals in the game.
Dedmon has averaged 7.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in the Trojans’ first seven games.
It’s his second major injury. Dedmon sustained a non-displaced fracture of his right hand just above the knuckle of his index finger during unofficial practice on Oct. 11 and had to wear a splint until Nov. 9.
