OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Will McNeill scored 18 points and Washburn defeated Nebraska-Omaha 73-63 on Tuesday night.

Bobby Chipman scored 12 points and Martin Mitchell scored 11 for the Ichabods (5-2), who play in Division II. Washburn never trailed in the game and led 41-27 at halftime.

Alex Welhouse led the Mavericks (2-5) with 16 points.

Until this season, Nebraska-Omaha was in the same conference with Washburn — the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The Mavericks are making the transition to Division I and will join the Summit League next season.

Washburn’s last win over a Division I school was exactly 27 years ago, on Nov. 29, 1984, at Oklahoma State.
