LAKE LOUISE, Alberta (AP) — Lindsey Vonn recorded the fastest time in Tuesday’s downhill training run in her first World Cup appearance since she announced she was getting a divorce.

The American star completed the 3,356-yard course in 1 minute, 54.79 seconds. Germany’s Viktoria Rebensburg was second, 1.67 seconds back, while Austria’s Elisabeth Goergl was third, 1.71 seconds off the pace.

Vonn confirmed Sunday night that she and Thomas Vonn have started divorce proceedings. She called it “an extremely difficult time” and asked for privacy.

Vonn elected to skip the season-opening World Cup slalom race Sunday to rest a sore back she recently tweaked in training.

Downhill races are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, with a super-G on Sunday.
