BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Building gingerbread houses is serious competition in Bellingham.

The architects of confection brought nearly 100 gingerbread houses, castles, lighthouses and other sweet dreams to the Bellingham Cruise Terminal on Wednesday. They’re on display for a contest at this weekend’s Port of Bellingham Holiday Port Festival.

The Bellingham Herald reports (http://is.gd/fYiTxS) the creations will be auctioned, with the proceeds going to the Red Cross.
