BEAVER CREEK, Colo. (AP) — Hannes Reichelt led a 1-2-3 Austrian finish in a downhill training run on the challenging Birds of Prey course.

Reichelt finished in a time of 1 minute, 43.64 seconds on Thursday, just ahead of teammates Matthias Mayer and Klaus Kroell.

Bode Miller had the top showing for the U.S. by taking eighth. Ted Ligety elected to skip the run to train for the giant slalom in nearby Vail.

Switzerland’s Didier Cuche, who had the top time Wednesday, showed that he’s dialed in and in tune with this tricky course by winding up fifth on a blustery day.

The World Cup downhill race will be held Friday. Since the downhill race was canceled last year, Carlo Janka of Switzerland is the de facto defending champion. He was seventh on Thursday.
