SUTHERLIN, Ore. (AP) — Sutherlin, Ore., police say a former Miss Douglas County was arrested for investigation of heroin possession.

The Register-Guard reports that 26-year-old Aunika Bennetti was booked into the Douglas County Jail early Sunday and later released. A sheriff’s spokeswoman says Bennetti will appear in court at a later date. It was not immediately known whether she was represented by a lawyer.

Sutherlin Police Chief Mark Mahler tells the News-Review that an officer stopped to check a car parked late Saturday night in a church parking lot. In it were Bennetti and Joseph Blake Cramer. After learning that Cramer was wanted on a probation violation warrant, police searched the vehicle, finding a small amount of heroin.

Cramer was also arrested.

Bennetti won the county beauty pageant in 2007, and went on to compete for the Miss Oregon title that year.
