Three people were taken to hospitals late Monday afternoon after a two-car collision on state Highway 14 by Beacon Rock in Skamania County, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

About 5:15 p.m., Michal R. Dudley, 59, of Stevenson was driving a 2010 Honda Insight west when he tried to make a left turn into the Beacon Rock Rest Area.

The Honda crashed into an eastbound 2002 Ford Focus driven by Karen J. Richie, 63, of Carson, the bulletin said.

Dudley was taken by a private vehicle to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. He was not there, a nursing supervisor said late Monday night.

Richie was taken by ambulance to PeaceHealth and was listed in satisfactory condition.

Richie’s passenger, Velvet J. Vanderslice, 38, of Stevenson was treated at PeaceHealth and released.

The bulletin said the crash was caused by inattention on Dudley’s part and he was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way in a left turn.

Both vehicles were totaled, the bulletin said.
