KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs’ search for a ground game led them to sign running back Shaun Draughn to their practice squad Wednesday.

The Chiefs led the league in rushing last season, but they’ve struggled since losing All-Pro running back Jamaal Charles to a season-ending ACL tear in Week 2. Thomas Jones, Jackie Battle and Dexter McCluster along with fullback Le’Ron McClain have shared carries since then.

Now, Draughn will get a look on the practice squad to see if he can help.

Draughn ran for 2,070 yards and 10 touchdowns during his college career at North Carolina. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by Washington earlier this year.

To make room for him, offensive lineman Butch Lewis was released from the practice squad.
